Subsidized Stafford Loans
(Previously called the Guaranteed Student Loan)
If you are enrolled at least halftime and can show financial need, you are a candidate for a Subsidized Stafford Loan. Your family income determines how much you can borrow.

1st year students can borrow up to $2,625 per year.

|
2nd year students, up to $3,500 per year.
|
|
•
|
|
3rd year and beyond, up to $5,500 per year.
|

|
Graduate students may borrow $8,500 each year for a cumulative total of $65,000 for undergraduate and graduate programs combined.
|
Because the Subsidized Stafford is a loan rather than a grant program the funds must be repaid.
The government subsidizes this loan and makes interest payments while you are in school and during your grace period or deferment. Repayment of the interest and principal begins six months after your enrollment drops below half time.
