June 5, 2009 (Olympia, WA) – Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU) announced that Tracy Guerin has been appointed to its nine-member Board of Directors. 

The WSECU Board provides governance and strategic direction for the $1.5 billion credit union. Volunteer leadership is a key distinction for not-for-profit credit unions as compared to banks.

Guerin was appointed following a recent vacancy to the WSECU volunteer governing Board.

WSECU’s Board Chair Fred Olsen said Tracy will be a valuable addition to the group.

“We had several very skilled and talented candidates under consideration for appointment,” Olsen said. “We selected Tracy because of her great commitment to cooperative banking and service to members. She comes from public employment herself and understands the mission of WSECU to make our members’ lives easier. We look forward to her contributions.”

Guerin is employed as Deputy Director of the Washington State Department of Information Systems and has had a lengthy career in public service. Public employees comprise the core of WSECU’s members.

"I was drawn to serving on WSECU's Board because of the strong commitment to members, the community, staff and exemplary service" Guerin said. "I look forward to taking actions that provide public employees greater access to financial services."

The newest member of the Board joins the credit union at a busy time. WSECU is nearing completion of a new corporate headquarters building and parking garage in Olympia. In addition, it’s seeing its highest mortgage loan production activity in the credit union’s history.

Raised in Washington State, Guerin attended Washington State University and completed her Bachelor’s Degree at The Evergreen State College. She is also a  graduate of the Leadership Thurston County program.

As a director, Guerin will serve a three-year term on the WSECU Board.
