WSECU is proud to announce our partnership with Credit University!
Credit University was formed to help increase knowledge among young people about avoiding identity theft, protecting their credit, and increasing their personal savings.
The 60 minute, non-commercial courses are taught to high-school students across the state and include these topics:
-
How to identify and avoid identity theft
-
How ‘good’ and ‘bad’ credit are earned, and the consequences of each
-
How quickly interest compounds when you start saving as a teen
-
That saving money doesn’t mean depriving yourself of fun!
After the students complete the course they are encouraged to visit the Credit University website and complete a quiz. Once they pass a quiz they are offered a coupon good for $25 when they open* their new Credit Union account.
In 2007, over 5,500 teens from 185 Washington State high schools experienced the credit union difference and learned how to create and protect their savings and earnings.
