Working For You
Because we're member owned and directed, our goal is to help make your life easier by providing you the finest financial products at the lowest cost - presented with a level of service unmatched anywhere.

Our financial family includes over 144,000 members and assets of over $1 billion. Strength, integrity and a total commitment to members have helped us grow throughout our half century of service.

We serve and understand the needs of Washington’s hard-working public employees. They, along with their family members, make up WSECU’s core membership.

Volunteer Leadership
One of the trademarks of credit unions is that leadership comes from within - and is elected by -- the membership. These talented and dedicated volunteers provide the vision and oversee the management of WSECU for the benefit of all.

The members of our Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee give of their time, energy and enthusiasm, with a constant eye toward ensuring that our members' best interests and expectations are being met. The reward for their commitment is knowing their efforts help improve products, services and access for all WSECU members.

Directors are elected to serve three-year terms, as are members of the Supervisory Committee, which oversees the financial safety and security of the credit union. They review monthly financial statements, internal audit reports involving Credit Union processes, regulatory examination reports and the annual financial audit results.

If you are interested in more information about the nomination and election process, please contact Chief Operating Officer Linda Hollen, at 800-562-0999, ext. 10128.

Our Promise
We promise our members the friendliest, most efficient financial services, quickly and conveniently.

We value our members’ time, money and dreams. Most of all, we value our relationship with each of them.

In everything we do, we are dedicated to Making Our Members’ Lives Easier.

Our Story

WSECU, a not-for-profit financial cooperative, was established in 1957 by 40 founding Washington State employees committed to the concept of people helping people.

One of our first loans was for a member’s car tires, two at a time, as funding provided. In 50 years, we’ve grown into a full service, statewide organization that today serves public employees and their families with a larger full-service branch network than any other credit union in Washington. Each day, we help our members with financial needs that range from financing that first home to investing wisely for retirement.

Since the beginning, members have found it easy to work with WSECU because we make certain that every product and service is tailored to their needs. We have one mission – to Make Our Members’ Lives Easier.

We carefully cultivate relationships that are built on trust, that same trust first shared by our founding members.

Making a Difference

As a credit union, our involvement in the community is a big part of who we are. A primary focus is providing greater access to traditional financial services for more people. For example, in Thurston County, we teamed up with other credit unions devoting time and resources to help develop TULIP Cooperative Credit Union for low-income residents.  A partnership with the Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs also seeks to connect low-income individuals with assistance to move toward financial independence.

To help improve financial literacy among young people, we have created a free, user-friendly curriculum – The Vault to teach the principles of smart money management to young people. Available on CD-Rom or by download, The Vault provides teachers comprehensive lesson plans about budgeting; saving & investing and other financial topics. WSECU employees also are available for guest speaking engagements in youth settings.

Each year, WSECU awards more than $40,000 in scholarship funds to members and their dependents pursuing degrees at two-and four-year higher education institutions.

We have linked with the shared branching networkgiving our members access to their WSECU accounts credit unions nationwide which have access to over 2,500 branches in 45 states, Puerto Rico, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Guam and Italy.

Our goal has always been to make life easier for our members. It is always a pleasure when we get to share that same level of commitment with the greater community.
