Starting December 1, 2004, Northwest residents will be able to get a free copy of their credit report once a year.  Due to some revisions to the FACT Act, consumers across the United States will be entitled to a free copy of a consolidated credit report from the three major credit bureaus once a year.  This will be an effective tool to help consumers protect themselves against Identity theft, and provide resources if they are a victim.

Due to the volume of consumers expected to take advantage of this offer, residents of 12 Western States (including Washington) are eligible to participate first.  Consumers in the remainder of the United States will be able to access their credit report in stages over the next 12 months.

Consumers should be prepared to provide the following information in their request:  Name, Address, Social Security Number, Date of Birth and other important information to confirm their identity.  The report will be mailed within 15 days.
