Your Financial Health is Our Concern
WSECU is dedicated to keeping you financially healthy. Education plays a key role in financial fitness and we offer a variety of workshops designed to provide valuable information to help you make sound financial decisions. Your presenters are WSECU’s Community Relations Coordinators who are well-versed in the topics they cover. There is no charge for these sessions and all public employees are welcome to attend; WSECU membership is not required.

You’ll find a list of class offerings and descriptions below. If there are topics that are of interest to your group or agency, contact one of our Community Relations Coordinators and they will be happy to make arrangements with you. Scroll to the bottom of this page to “meet” our coordinators.

Credit Reporting 101
Learn how credit bureaus develop your credit score and come away with valuable tips to help you make the most of your credit worthiness. You’ll also learn about credit bureaus, how a score is determined, steps you can take to improve your credit and more.

Emergency Financial First Aid Kit
We want to ensure that you’re ready for an emergency — natural disaster and otherwise. This workshop will give you the tools to help you prepare in the event that you’re faced with one of life’s unexpected surprises.

Financial Stress Management
Financial wellness is part of your overall health and stress caused by debt or other financial issues can manifest itself in physical health problems. It can also strain personal relationships at home and create a loss of productivity at work. You’ll come away from this class with ways to manage the difficulties that financial stress can cause.

Forty, Fabulous and Flat Broke
Did you know that 58 percent of those over 40 years of age don’t have a solid retirement plan in place? This class will provide the tools and contacts you need to start the ball rolling in the right direction!

Identity Theft — When Bad Things Happen to Your Good Name
Identity theft continues to run rampant and it can catch you unaware. This workshop will bring you up-to-date on the latest statistics, explain how identity theft happens and offer ways to prevent having it happen to you.

Life’s Financial Milestones
Life happens…are you prepared? This class will identify the common and not-so-common milestones and offer timely advice on how to approach them in a financially sound way.

Mortgage 101
So many changes. So much information. Where do you turn for your mortgage and home buying questions? Your trusted adviser, of course! In this class, information on available mortgage programs, local markets and the housing market in general are among the topics of discussion. It is ideal for those who are thinking about buying a home or refinancing.

Scams, Shams and Your Money Matters
This class will provide you with tools to protect yourself against various types of fraud. Prepare to be educated on ways to protect your accounts, money, debit cards and credit cards from scammers and schemers!

Investment Seminars
These seminars, presented by an LPL Financial Adviser, are available on a variety of topics, one of which is described below. Please contact a Community Relations Coordinator for all available options.

Re-engineering Retirement
